Death Valley by moonlight

I had to battle wind and sand in my face and camera equipment. I spent a couple of hours here just before sunset and by moonlight - this image is by moonlight. It was really hard to keep sand out of everything! My Canon lens is in the shop for cleaning - I hope it's not ruined! Death Valley is beautiful this time of year. The desert flowers are in full bloom but not as spectacular compared to previous years, but still beautiful!

  1. I really like the limited color pallet. The front wave of sand is pretty high and looks like it is just starting to crest.

  2. You deserve the prize just for your efforts, Jan. This is a great shot. The sand appears white like snow with a hint of pinks and grays. Love that! I like the composition of the smooth line of sand in the foreground, smooth lines of mountains in the middle ground, and mountains in the background.
