I love to travel but I am currently exploring the concept of being a tourist in Los Angeles. Although I enjoy exploring the world I realize there are plenty of interesting sites right here at home. Last week I enjoyed the New Year's celebration in Chinatown.
What as a tourist do you think your images communicate about the place and the event? Are you an LA native? If so can you really be a tourist? It is an interesting perspective!
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors in these pictures, and the subject. I think more pictures of the traditions would be great for documentary photography.
ReplyDeleteI am a native of Los Angeles and have traveled throughout the world as a tourist. Some of the most "ordinary" locations often turn out to be the most memorable such as Victoria Market in Melbourne, Australia or Angelica's Pastry Shop in Paris, France. However, it seems we seldom take the time to enjoy these types of locations right at home. Webster's defines a tourist as "one that makes a tour for pleasure or culture." Given this definition I look forward to continuing my tour of my own town as I enjoy my studies of landscape and documentary photography.
